HV Split Breakout Module evo for Voltage
Housing safely encloses voltage tap (HV+)
The High Voltage (HV) Split Breakout Modules evo (HV SBM_U evo and HV SBML_U evo) allow safe voltage tapping (HV+) in HV power cables. The housings protect the voltage taps from environmental influences and ensure HV safety for users and components. The voltage is measured with the HV SAM1 evo (HV Split Acquisition Module).
Highlights
- Voltage tapping (HV+) in HV applications (up to 1,000 V)
- Connection to corresponding HV SBM_I evo or HV SBML_I evo via HV-safe sensor cable (permanently connected to HV SBM_U evo) for signal transmission to HV SAM1 evo measurement module
- Measurements in copper and aluminum cables
Description
The HV SBM_U evo tap the HV+ potential of an HV power cable. The voltage measurement is performed in combination with an HV SBM_I evo (tap HV- potential) with the HV SAM1 evo.
For measurements on HV aluminum cables, the HV SBML_U evo variant is used.
The HV cables are routed through cable glands into the housing and connected inside via ring terminals. All HV SBM_U evo variants also have an insulated feed-through for the shielding inside the module. The HV SBM_U evo is connected to the HV SBM_I evo with a permanently connected HV-safe and shielded sensor cable with a plug connection.

Applications
The HV SBM_U evo taps the voltage potential HV+ of an HV power cable where there is no space available for the installation of conventional HV Breakout Modules. The encapsulated housing of the HV SBM_U evo or HV SBML_U evo allows for easy and safe application.
The measurement data obtained from the HV BM Split evo and the eMobilityAnalyzer from the Vector CSM E-Mobility Measurement System can be used to perform a wide range of real-time analyses: efficiency measurement of inverter and drive train, harmonic, PWM, ripple analysis and many more.
