XCP-Gateway

The protocol converter for EtherCAT® and CAN to XCP-on-Ethernet

XCP-Gateway is the interface between the data acquisition software (e. g. vMeasure, CANape®, INCA®, Vision® ...) and the EtherCAT® measurement modules from CSM. It includes an EtherCAT® master and an XCP-on-Ethernet slave.

From a software perspective, the XCP-Gateway serves as an XCP controller with numerous measured quantities. The measurement configurations of the connected measurement modules are written to a single A2L file.

CSM developed the XCP-Gateway for the ECAT MiniModule series and for measurement applications with many measurement channels and high measurement data rates. The "XCP-Gateway pro" versions feature up to two CAN interfaces, thus providing a basis for combined measurement setups with CAN- and EtherCAT®-based measurement modules from CSM. In addition, temperature information from CSM HV Breakout Modules can be transferred via EtherCAT® in the pro-versions.

  • Suited for up to 4.5 million data points per second (MS/s) per ECAT input, e.g. four measurement channels with 1 MHz
  • Real-time master for EtherCAT® CSM MiniModules
  • Numerous XCP-Gateways can be operated over one Ethernet switch
  • XCP-Gateway pro and 4S pro models include up to two CAN interfaces for the connection of CSM CAN measurement modules. Transmission of temperature information from CSM HV breakout modules via EtherCAT®
  • The XCP-Gateway 4S pro includes 4 ECAT inputs for large measurement setups with high data rates. Conversion to XCP-on-Ethernet is done at 1 GBit/s. Uses Precision Time Protocol (PTP) according to IEEE 1588 as the synchronization mechanism for all measurement chains. PTP can be done optionally with global time synchronization via GPS
