HV safe Temperature Measurement
HV safe Temperature Measurement
The CSM HV DTemp measurement system is designed for the digital and precise measurement of up to 512 temperature measurement points via a single cable connection to the HV DTemp Central Unit.
Precise knowledge of thermal behaviour and temperature curves is an essential prerequisite for the further development of high-performance high-voltage battery systems. For this purpose, temperatures must be measured with several hundred measurement points, even between the cells of the battery. With the HV DTemp measurement system, such measurements can be easily performed.
The HV DTemp measurement system consists of the three components: HV DTemp IC Sensors, HV DTemp-M Controller and HV DTemp-P Central Unit.
With the IC (Integrated Circuit) temperature sensors of the IC-Sensors, the temperatures within the high-voltage battery are also acquired at cell level. Controller Modules transmit the digital signals to the Central Unit, which sends the measured values to the DAQ via a CAN bus. Only one high-voltage safe cable has to be led from the battery to the Central Unit, which creates only minor impact on the structure of the battery housing.
HV DTemp IC temperature sensors are soldered onto an ultra-thin flexible circuit and measure temperatures on their bottom surface. Due to their low height, installation is also possible between the battery cells.
.The HV DTemp IC Sensors can be installed in different variants depending on the application:
For direct connection to a HV DTemp-M Controller, single sensors are available with a connection cable.
Up to four single sensors can be combined to form a sensor assembly. For this purpose they are either daisy chained via connection cables or connected via a small distribution board. In this way, the arrangement can be designed in a very flexible way.
Many IC temperature sensors can also be installed as a group directly on a flexible circuit. The dimensions of the flexible circuit and the arrangement of the sensors can be precisely adapted to the measuring task. The position of the individual sensors can be transferred exactly from simulations and measurements can be repeated.
.The HV DTemp-M Controller provides the addressing, the power supply of the sensors and the transmission of the temperature values to the HV DTemp-P Central Unit. For this purpose a Controller has 16 port inputs. The HV DTemp-M64 Controller allows the connection of up to four sensors per port. With the HV DTemp-M16 Controller one sensor per port can be connected. Up to eight HV DTemp-M Controller can be cascaded.
The HV DTemp-M Controller are connected to the Central Unit via a high-voltage safe cable. The Central Unit controls the entire system, forwards the data via CAN bus to the DAQ software and ensures high-voltage safety with two galvanically isolated inputs.
CSM's measurement modules HV PT MiniModule (HV PTMM) and the HV PT test bench module (HV PT-TBM) allow precise temperature measurements with PT100 and PT1000 resistance sensors in a high-voltage environment.
HV AD4 XW20 measurement modules are specifically designed for the measurement of high voltages in high-voltage environments. Designed as 19-inch slide-in units, they are excellently suited for test bench applications and rack installation in enclosed areas of a vehicle.
Electric mobility is the future of transportation. The development of modern electric and hybrid vehicles poses new challenges for measurement technology. Not only must the measurement technology for eMobility match the traditional attributes of being accurate, mobile, and easy to use, it must also be safe for the users and the system. CSM high-voltage measurement technology ensures the safety of all measurement applications by means of a HV safe measurement chain from the sensor to the data acquisition.
