Three-phase measurement of internal conductor current and voltage with direct XCP-on-Ethernet output for real-time power analysis

The HV Breakout Module (BM) 3.3 has been specially designed for safe and precise three-phase measurement in HV power cables. The inner conductor currents and outer conductor voltages are directly acquired and output 100% synchronously and phase-synchronously via XCP-on-Ethernet.

Description

HV Breakout Module 3.3 can be used to perform three-phase power analyses directly in HV lines.

For this purpose, the HV Breakout Module 3.3 is inserted directly into the HV power cables by feeding the cables through PG glands into the interior of the module and connecting them there using ring terminals.

The outer conductor voltages are measured directly. Current measurement is carried out via shunt modules which contain, among other things, a temperature sensor and a memory for calibration data for automatic online temperature compensation.

The sampling of voltage and current with immediate digitization in the aluminum housing of the HV Breakout Module provides optimum protection against electromagnetic interference.

The star-triangle transformation required for the power analysis of electric motors in star connection is performed online in the Vector eMobilityAnalyzer software.

  • XCP-Gateway option: One additional CAN and EtherCAT® interface each for connecting CSM CAN and EtherCAT® measurement modules
  • PTP option: Synchronization of the HV Breakout Module type 3.3 and CSM / 3rd party hardware using the IEEE1588 "Precision Time Protocol" standard

Applications

The HV Breakout Module 3.3 enables the electrical power analysis of electric vehicle engines motors the use of classic power meters and current transformers. The modules are suitable for use in powertrain test benches as well as for mobile real-time measurement in the high-voltage electrical system of test vehicles.

The three-phase measurement with only one measurement device offers enormous installation, cost and space advantages.

With the HV BM 3.3 and the eMobilityAnalyzer software from the Vector CSM E-Mobility Measurement System, a wide range of analyses can be performed: Inverter and powertrain efficiency measurements, E-motor power analysis, harmonic analysis, PWM analysis, three-phase signal analysis and many more.
