The HV Split Breakout Modules (HV SBM_I) are designed for safe and precise current measurement directly in HV power cables running between tightly installed components or in cable ducts. In addition, the HV SBM_I include a voltage tap (HV-) for voltage measurement in the HV Split Acquisition Module(HV SAM).
The HV Split Breakout Modules I measure single-phase currents via a shunt module that includes the measurement shunt, the temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation and the sensor electronics. The measurement directly in the inner conductors and the encapsulated housing ensure precise measurement results as influences of external fields are minimized: Pseudo signals, hysteresis effects, system-related noise, characteristic shift or offset errors do not occur in the measurement results.
The voltage (HV-) is also tapped in the module. The voltage measurement takes place in the HV SAM (HV Split Acquisition Module) in combination with a HV SBM_U or a voltage tap via a suitable sensor cable.
The HV cables are either fed into the housing through cable glands and connected inside via ring terminals or connected with PowerLok connector system. The cable shield is placed on the housing or passed through.
The HV SBM_I is connected to the HV SAM measurement module via an HV-safe and shielded sensor cable.

With the HV Split Breakout Modules, currents can also be measured at measurement points in HV power cables that run between tightly installed components or in cable ducts and where no space is available for the installation of conventional HV Breakout Modules. The shunt-based measurement (with temperature compensation) provides precise measurement results due to low interference and enables further analysis. With the encapsulated housing, the HV SBM_I also ensure HV safety for users and surrounding components and allow interference-free and very accurate measurements.
With the measurement data obtained from the HV BM Split modules and the eMobilityAnalyzer from the Vector CSM E-Mobility Measurement System a variety of analyses in real time can be performed: Inverter and powertrain efficiency calculations, e-motor power analysis, harmonic analysis, PWM analysis, ripple analysis and many more.
