HV safe measurement of mechanical strain in HV batteries

New application example

Learn in our new application example how mechanical strains and stresses in the housing of a HV battery are measured safely and precisely.

Various mechanical loads impact the housing of HV batteries in electric vehicles:

  • In the housing, forces due to the expansion of the battery cells act on struts and other structures between the battery modules.
  • On the outside, the housing is subject to torsion from the vehicle frame.

The housing must withstand these forces at all times and must not break, otherwise the safety of the vehicle passengers could be affected and the proper operation of the HV battery could be impaired. HV-safe and conventional strain gauge measurement modules can be used to precisely measure and analyze the mechanical stresses in the housing.
