Synchronous measurements with 800 kHz per channel with CSM measurement modules and ETAS INCA®
CSM presents CSM INCA AddOn ETH for the integration of CSM EtherCAT® measurement modules in ETAS INCA®
With CSM INCA AddOn ETH, CSM extends the software product range and provides an option to integrate CSM measurement modules in the ETAS measurement software INCA®. CSM INCA AddOn ETH complements the approved CAN version of that software and allows for the configuration of CSM ECAT measurement modules and measurements with the full EtherCAT® performance directly in INCA®. The measurement modules are connected to ETAS interface modules like ES59x or ES891 via the protocol converter XCP-Gateway. Therefore ECU and measurement data can be acquired simultaneously. Furthermore, all data is synchronised with high precision (≤ 1 μs).

This means: INCA® users are now able to carry out synchronous high-speed measurements with up to 800 kHz per channel directly in INCA®. This opens up new possibilities for verification and error detection routines in vehicles. Additionally, multi-channel applications with many hundreds of sensors, e. g. strain gauges, pressure or acceleration sensors (also IEPE sensors), and high precision synchronous data acquisition are possible”, says Dr.-Ing. Configuring CSM EtherCAT® measurement modules in INCA® with only a few clicks and making use of the program’s full measuring capacity
To be able to use CSM’s ECAT measurement modules, the user simply installs CSM INCA AddOn ETH in addition to INCA® (as of INCA 7.1, service pack 10) on the measurement computer or laptop. CSM’s ECAT measurement modules are connected to an ETAS ES59x or ES891 or alternatively directly to the ethernet port of the computer via the protocol converter XCP-Gateway. The gateway ensures the correct conversion of EtherCAT® measurement data to XCP-on-Ethernet and thus the compatibility to INCA®. The CSM INCA AddOn ETH ads the option “CSM Ethernet Devices” into the Hardware tree menu of INCA®. Via the INCA® third-party hardware search every connected ECAT module can be found and configured. The user surface for the configuration as well as the functionality are similar to the software CSMconfig. This way, a configuration stored in a connected module can be easily read out and – if needed – modified with only a few clicks. As to the integration of CAN-based measurement modules in INCA®, CSM provides the proven software CSM INCA AddOn CAN.
CSM ECAT measurement modules: high performance for distributed measurement applications during test drives and in test benches
With its EtherCAT®-based MiniModules, CSM offers measurement technology for demanding applications, exceeding the performance of CAN bus technology. The EtherCAT® field bus sets standards in terms of bandwidth, maximum number of measurement channels and the synchronization of measurement signals. ECAT STGMM measurement modules are perfectly suited for multi-channel applications with more than 1000 strain gauges / acceleration sensors. These modules support measurement data rates from 1 Hz up to 10 kHz per channel and a synchronous acquisition of measurement data. In addition, extensive measurement networks can be set up, with distances of up to 100 m between the individual measurement modules or groups of measurement modules.
The measurement modules type ECAT ADMM 4 HS800 are perfectly suited for verification and error detection routines. With measurement data rates up to 800 kHz per channel they can be used to analyze fast signal characteristics in combustion engines, their electrical auxiliary systems or electric drives in a high-resolution. The measurement modules type ECAT ADMM 4 HS100 have a galvanically isolated sensor excitation up to 24 V. Therefore they are especially designed for applications with IEPE acceleration sensors and microphones.
